It’s been such a long wait but we can finally announce our publication date for Black Rainbow!
The books have been sent to print and we are just in the process of setting up our page with Amazon who will be fulfilling the orders.
Trying to self-publish has been quite a learning curve and I do feel like it’s been daunting at times – although I can now look back and feel that it’s something I am proud to have made my way through until the end.
I came to this as a woman who had been through a lot of trauma trying to lead my neurodivergent family into a place of safety and belonging.
I was a parent who was being observed, tracked and silenced by those around me who were trying to push a false narrative because what I was saying wasn’t in line with their own beliefs.
Writing became my place of healing.
Every word I wrote enabled me to feel like I had control over my voice again.
I disabled my social media pages and worked through the situation until I felt safer again.
It was only when a close friend – who was supporting me as an advocate in the background – read my beginning chapters and gave me the tools to carry on and create something.
That was how Black Rainbow was born.
And now I can say this is how long I have left until my launch event:
days
hours minutes seconds
until
Book Launch – Black Rainbow
I am so nervous about how this book will be received and whether it will be a resource that can support other families like I always hoped it would be.
We will be holding a very informal book launch at The Red Lion Pub (London Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9TD) where families are welcome to join us at the event.
The pub has a very large garden with play equipment, benches, a covered area and a large car park. It is in walking distance of Apsley Train Station. I will do a combination of book signing and hopefully have some speakers/Q&A set up.
Most importantly this is an event that we hope you can be free to move around at and be able to come and leave as you please.
I have taken some photos for anyone who would like to view the venue before deciding whether this is accessible to your individual needs:

If you are thinking of coming then please do book tickets via our Eventbrite link below so that we can try to gauge numbers for the pub and their staffing requirements:
