Hi everyone! ❤️🌈

I’m Danielle and I am an Autistic/ADHD author, blogger and disability campaigner as well as being a single parent to three autistic daughters. I love running, dancing and comedy in equal measures!

I initially started this blog in 2016 when I had a four year old child who was being excluded from school and I was at my wits end.

It was then that I discovered the autistic profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and I had my lightbulb moment because it EXACTLY described the struggles my daughter had.

I approached the professionals around me who mostly hadn’t heard of it (I then had the uphill task to educate them) or the ones who knew about it told me it didn’t exist (those ones were even harder to educate😳🤪).

I felt even more frustrated and isolated at having an answer but being met with such a wall of resistance around me.

And that’s when I started writing ✍️

Driven by a sense of injustice and inequality this page was born and you could say it’s grown from there (most of the time you can find my daily ramblings on Facebook or Instagram and we would love you to come over to join our discussions there).

Since that initial entry into the world of autism, we’ve all been diagnosed in the family and we’ve also had many challenges along the way (lack of education, parent blame, Fii accusations, permanent exclusions and court battles to name just a few).

My children are now all plans with EOTIS (Education Other Than In School) where we have a mix of tutoring, therapy and the opportunity of accessing home education social meet ups – which all combine to make the EOTIS packages broader and socially more fulfilling.

The girls all love gaming and have a joint love for animals. They share some similarities and they each have varying struggles. Their personalities are all unique and I learn so much from each of them.

My key motto is that ‘no two days are ever the same.’

Other than being a bit upside down most of the time, we also aim to use this page to bring understanding of what it’s like to be part of a neurodivergent family, so that we can empower other parents and prevent children and young people from being misunderstood.

Sometimes my children like to share their opinions, observations and photos on the blog and I give them the autonomy to think about what challenges and wins they like to make public. As they develop I hope they may share the page with me as I think they could inform others so well through their lived, first-hand experiences of being neurodivergent. Whilst they are still young there needs to still be a protective factor around that hence the reason you will see more from a parent’s point of view.

So on that note, we hope we can make you feel welcome here, we would love to hear in the comments below who you are and what brought you to our community.

Love Danielle and family x
